cedar and raquel :: american vagabonds















after staying the night with the dudes over at Time’s UP! (www.times-up.org), Cedar and Raquel were kind enough to let me shoot them and their gnarly bicycles on their last day here in NYC. cedar set off alone from portland, oregon in august 2011, rode the cali coast and spent the winter in LA where he met raquel. they then took off; strangers heading east together for the trip of a lifetime. These guys have been eaten by mosquitoes, rode I-10 from Austin, TX to Baton Rouge, LA (with cedar on a FIXED!), and seen almost every bit of beautiful scenery between here and the left coast on their 7 month journey. his first touring bike was stolen in LA, and he had to have shipped his ALUMINUM TRACK frame out of necessity. after hundreds of flats and a broken nose; many stories, campfires, and quiet nights, they have found their way to the other side of the continent, and will be taking it easy (trains, hitches, rideshares) back to PDX. fucking great to see you guys. inspirational.

this is my good friend and longtime road dog cedar watson. he has been on a bike tour since august of 2011, pedaling from portland, oregon over 3000 miles to the east coast. he called me randomly after not hearing from him for months, and he was less than 15 blocks from my apartment here in brooklyn. fucking rad.
